WORKS

Our works

1. Hand-Woven Wire Netting Products

At Kanaami-Tsuji, using original techniques such as kiku-dashi (“chrysanthemum pattern”) and kikko-ami (“tortoise shell netting”), we offer tofu servers and tea sifts that are individually handmade. We also accept custom-made orders for metal grills to match specific bowls or vessels.

Furthermore, we also produce ceremonial keko dishes used in Buddhist rituals.

In these ways our hand woven metal products take a variety of shapes and are sold in various retailers around the country. In recent years, we have actively incorporated new metal weaving techniques.

2. Manufactured Wire Netting Products

We also produce handmade items with manufactured wire grills. These products are hand-assembled rather than machine-welded, thereby producing items that are durable and can be used for many years. Furthermore, we can assemble products of a variety of shapes for specific purposes, such as sesame and ginkgo seed roasting.

3. Bent Wood Products

Our kitchen products have been essential in preparing Kyoto cuisine and traditional Japanese sweets: sifts made from stretched horsehair, bamboo steam baskets, and containers of woven rattan, among others. A great number of restaurants are still using our items today.

The mesh of these bent wood products can be replaced when damaged, so chefs do not have to throw away these valuable kitchen items. Through products maintenance, our bent wood products can be used for decades.

In these ways, our metal netting products play an important role in Kyoto’s traditional cuisine and food culture.
